My interest in soundproofing began when I started doing voice-overs for amateur cartoons and producing beats. This was a great way to extend my brief acting career and passion for music.
I had a very simple home recording setup. I used adobe audition on my Macbook that would enable me to record my voice. I bought a Bluetooth Yeti Microphone and pop filter so my voice would sound crisp and clear.
What I did not account for was the echo in my room and noises from outside. I never noticed how much reverb there actually was in my apartment until I started recording my own voice. I also noticed my microphone was picking up random noises from outside.
I needed a way to deaden the sound in my room and also block outside noise because I could clearly hear it when I would play back my recordings. I did not want to send these audio files to my clients tainted with background noise.
Therefore, I started soundproofing my room with whatever I had lying around my house. I used blankets and pillows strategically to keep my room quiet. I even tried hanging up egg cartons on my walls!
From there I kept experimenting with new ideas and products to soundproof my room into a makeshift recording studio. Since then, I have expanded my soundproofing journey into other areas.
Now, I want to share all the tips and tricks I have learned along the way on this blog. Hope you find it helpful!
